ABOUT BIZ

Lizzie Scott, known professionally as Biz, has been living a life full of music for as long as they can remember. From piano lessons in their hometown of Alameda, CA with their dad, a voice teacher, to currently completing their Music Production and Engineering degree at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, Biz has always embraced and cultivated a musical environment around them. In their childhood, mornings were all about making breakfast and singing together, which set the stage for their lifelong creative journey. Although they started writing songs around age 11, it wasn't until their early college years that Biz dove deeper into music professionally. The COVID-19 pandemic was a game-changer, sparking a serious interest in production and pushing them to reclaim their artistic side.

As Biz continued exploring their musical talents, it became obvious that nothing else sparked their passion the way that music does. Whether it be songwriting, performing or production, creating music is truly their calling. With artists like Jeff Buckley inspiring them, they pull from all sorts of influences—whether it’s literature, movies, or personal experiences. Biz’s lyrics often blend their own feelings with narratives from stories they love, like their song “Crash the Waltz” which draws inspiration from Jacob’s Room by Virginia Woolf, and their latest single, “American Dream,” which plays with the classic conflict between imaginings of a perfect fantasy and the disillusioning shock of reality.

A pivotal moment in Biz’s career came when they began to get more comfortable sharing their music with the wider public. Playing live and seeing people connect with their songs felt incredible and opened their eyes to the impact that their music can have on people around them. They also started experimenting with visuals, inviting their audience into a richer experience with their music video for their latest release, “American Dream,” which combined sound and imagery to tell the story of the song in an even more expansive and immersive form.

Music isn’t a job to Biz; it’s their life. They love collaborating with other artists, engaging in every part of the process from songwriting to sound engineering, and bringing both their own and others’ creative visions to life. For them, music is a way to connect with the world and people around them.
